🍍 Riviera Maya Insider is working together with PAR - Playa Animal Rescue to help amazing dogs find forever homes. Each week, we will feature a pup who is ready for adoption and eager to join your family.

MEET CALYPSO, OUR DOG OF THE WEEK

🐾 Calypso is our little wirey-haired queen. She was rescued with her 3 babies, Calle, Callie and Carmen. All the babies have families of their own now and it is Calypso's turn. Calypso is 4 years old and weighs 17kg. She is a fun loving dog who enjoys the company of other dogs and people. She is an easy girl and wants to share her love with you. She is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations and parasite free. She has received all monthly preventatives. If. you would like to know more about Calypso, email to [email protected]

Want to help, but can’t adopt? There are plenty of opportunities to support Calypso and other pets awaiting their forever home. PAR also needs sponsors and volunteers to help with dog walking and charm school. Find out ho w you can help!

FIVE FUN THINGS

As you may have noticed, our local news and social media outlets are often better at reporting events after they have happened than they are at letting you know about them in advance. So, here are my picks for Five Fun Things you might want to check out this week!

🌿 The 3rd Annual BioFeria Tulum is happening now through March 16 at the Explanada del Palacio Municipal, bringing together sustainability experts, eco-conscious brands, and curious visitors for a week of fun, learning, and community action. This family-friendly festival is the largest sustainability fair in Latin America, offering a mix of interactive workshops, live demonstrations, art installations, and an eco-market filled with sustainable products, organic food, and zero-waste essentials. Whether you want to learn about composting, explore urban permaculture, or simply enjoy delicious plant-based tacos, there’s something for everyone.

Wander through sculptures made from recycled materials, meet local artisans and environmental activists, and take part in hands-on activities that make sustainability fun and accessible. There are plenty of kid-friendly activities and the event helps support local composting programs and school gardens, making it a great way to give back. 🎼 Friday, March 14, 2025 at 7 PM, the SAYAB Planetarium in Playa del Carmen will present “Across the Universe”, a special event celebrating The Beatles. This multi-media experience in the immersion dome invites guests to enjoy The Beatles' timeless music performed by the band QUARZO and set against a backdrop of the planetarium's state-of-the-art visual displays.

The SAYAB Planetarium is renowned for its educational focus, offering interactive exhibits and workshops that delve into various scientific topics. Its facilities include an observatory with impressive telescopes, an immersion dome for captivating films, and a learning path through a jungle area showcasing the region's biodiversity.

Tickets are 300 pesos per person and can be purchased at the Box Office or in advance through Eventbrite. For more information about the planetarium and its offerings, you can visit their Facebook page.

🎸 Attention music lovers! On Friday March 14th, all of the members of the beloved local band Rockumal will hit the stage together for a one-time-only show at Lol Ha Restaurant in Akumal. Whether you are a long time fan of the band or just hearing about them now, don’t miss this opportunity to see the whole gang back on stage one more time. Rockumal plays all the classic hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s and always gets the crowds up and dancing.

🐎 Looking for a unique and exciting way to spend your Saturday? Caballo-Fest at Club de Polo El Rey promises a fun-filled day for the whole family!
