MEET MAMA K, OUR DOG OF THE WEEK

🐾 Mama K is one of our special girls! She is sweet tempered and loving. She was rescued with her 5 puppies by the army and given over to our care. Mama is 5 years old, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, parasite free and has received all her monthly preventatives. If you would like to learn more about this wonderful dog, contact [email protected]

💵 Want to help, but can’t adopt? There are plenty of opportunities to support Mama K and other pets awaiting their forever home. PAR also needs sponsors and volunteers to help with dog walking and charm school. Find out ho w you can help!

Here are my picks for Five Fun Things you might want to check out!

🎪 The legendary Barley Circus is back in Playa del Carmen for the first time in 26 years! This Mexico-based contemporary circus collective blends acrobatic artistry, aerial acts, clowning, and theatrical storytelling. Their performances are equal parts dazzling and thought-provoking, often touching on social and environmental themes. The gala opening day is set for April 12th with shows at 6PM and 8:30PM. The big top will be set up in the parking lot of Centro Maya.

Part of the nuevo circo movement, Barley Circus is known for its creative collaborations, live music, physical theater, and powerful messages that resonate with audiences of all ages. Barley Circus will be in Playa del Carmen for just a few days. If you’ve never seen them live, now’s your chance.

🐇 Hop into the Easter spirit this Sunday, April 13, at the Puerto Aventuras Kiosco for a fun-filled evening of shopping, food, and community vibes at the Trendy Market – Easter Edition! The market will be open from 6:00PM to 9:30PM. Here you can find handmade art, home décor, fashion, accessories, ceramics, natural products, and tasty treats from local vendors.

At 7PM there will be sweet surprise for the little ones—an Easter Egg Hunt in the park area around the bandstand where kids will search for hidden eggs. Find one and trade it in for a candy prize! One egg per child, and once they’ve got theirs, they’re encouraged to help others join in the fun. It’s free to participate and no pre-registration is required. Just show up and have fun!

🎨 Looking for a fun and meaningful way to spend your Sunday afternoon? Join us at Buzo’s on Calle 26 in Playa del Carmen this Sunday, April 13, from 1PM to 4PM for a special Artisan Show to benefit Leyendo. This vibrant event will feature local artists showcasing a diverse array of handcrafted works, including original art, photography, unique jewelry, and other handmade goods.

A 100-peso donation is suggested at the door, with all proceeds supporting Leyendo, an all-volunteer organization based in Playa del Carmen. Leyendo is dedicated to enriching public schools by creating inviting libraries in unused classrooms and stocking them with books—fostering a love for reading and learning amongst the students that will hopefully last for a lifetime.

Come enjoy delicious food and drinks while you browse and shop, all in support of a great cause. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with local artisans, find unique treasures, and contribute to community literacy initiatives. 📸 Take a walk through the past and discover "Living History of Quintana Roo" – A Visual Journey Through 50 Years of Transformation. This exhibit, located in the Art Gallery inside the Municipal Palace in downtown Playa del Carmen, is an evocative exhibit featuring 100 historical photographs and documents that reveal how, in just 50 short years, the state evolved into one of the world’s top tourist destinations.

The exhibit will be open until April 15th. The doors open daily at 2PM. Admission is free. Don't miss this chance to explore the people, places, and pivotal moments that have shaped Quintana Roo’s identity.
