MEET CHIQUIS, OUR DOG OF THE WEEK

🐾 Chiquis was rescued from the street and she was in horrible condition. We shared our love and expertise to bring her back to health and she pays us back in affection and a willingness to please. Chiquis is 2 years old and weighs 14kg. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, parasite free and receives all monthly preventatives. If you would like to know more about Chiquis, email [email protected]

Want to help, but can’t adopt? There are plenty of opportunities to support Chiquis and other pets awaiting their forever home. PAR also needs sponsors and volunteers to help with dog walking and charm school. Find out ho w you can help!

🏆️ Last month we ran a poll asking readers to vote for their favorite Live Music Venue in Playa del Carmen. With over 44% of the votes, ALIVE was the Riviera Maya Insider’s Readers’ Choice for 2025. This week, I delivered the award to Ale who recieved it with the same energy and emotion that she puts into everything she does.

Here are my picks for Five Fun Things you might want to check out!

💃 Puerto Fest 2025 is on for Friday March 21st and the organizers have planned an unforgettable night of live music, food, and fun. The event will be held on the Puerto Aventuras Golf Course practice range and run from 5:30PM until 11:30PM. Guests will enjoy performances by Alyosha Barreiro (Chac Mool), Beatlips, Mr. Rojo, and DJ AAURA, plus incredible food from local businesses, including fresh seafood, Mexican street food, and mezcal cocktails from Amarás.

Tickets are 350 MXN for adults and 150 MXN for kids (5-16) and can be purchased in advance at protudec.com. This family-friendly event will feature games and activities for all ages. Proceeds will go to support improving the recreational facilities at Colegio Puerto Aventuras that benefit the whole community.

Looking for a fun Friday night that’s a little more sophisticated and - dare I say it - child-free? Piaggia Tulum is hosting a fabulous Wine & Tapas Night in their fabulous location in Plaza Tuk Art Walk. Enjoy two glasses of wine, Merlot and Rosé from Viña Maipo, paired with delicious tapas while listening to a live musical performance from Om Aurea. The event starts at 6PM and costs just 400 pesos per person. Reserve through messenger on the Piaggia Facebook page.

Mexican pop artists Jesse & Joy are bringing their 2025 “El Despecho” Tour to Cancun this Saturday, March 22nd. My kids turned me on to them a few years and I think they are great! Known for hits like Corre and ¡Espacio Sideral!, this Grammy-winning brother and sister duo blends heartfelt lyrics with infectious melodies. Jesse & Joy will be performing at Plaza de los Toros in Cancun at 9PM. Get your tickets in advance!

🍷 Saturday April 19, from 6PM to 11PM, the rooftop of The Fives Downtown Hotel & Residences in Playa del Carmen will be transformed into a Hollywood-style wine experience for the 3rd Annual Wine Route. This exciting event will offer guests 32 incredible wines from around the world, gourmet food stations, live music and a glamorous Oscars-inspired vibe.

Why am I posting this so early? Because right now, early bird tickets are just $1,400 MXN per person. Prices jump to $1,800 MXN after March 21. This event always sells out, so if you love wine and a great night out, book your spot now! More info and tickets +52 984-242-0293.

🎳 Looking for something a little bit different than the club scene in Playa? Grab your friends and check out Bowling Playa, the only place in Playa del Carmen where you can bowl, play pool and shuffleboard and enjoy a full bar and an unbeatable atmosphere! It’s the perfect spot for a fun night out with friends.

They also have a surprisingly good menu featuring all your favorite bar snacks, burgers, pizza, wings, pasta dishes, steak and more! Bowling Playa is open daily from 3PM to 1AM.
