MEET GOMITA, OUR DOG OF THE WEEK

🐾 Our little girl Gomita had a rough start to life. Her human had a drinking problem and was on the street trying to sell her and her litter-mates. Life got better for her once she came to us, and will get better yet once she finds her family. Gomita is 10 months old and just as sweet as she looks. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, parasite free and has received all her monthly preventatives. If you are interested in welcoming Gomita into your home and your heart, send an email to [email protected].

💵 Want to help, but can’t adopt? There are plenty of opportunities to support Gomita and other pets awaiting their forever home. PAR also needs sponsors and volunteers to help with dog walking and charm school. Find out how you can help!

OperaMaya Gala at Teatro de la Ciudad Xaman Ha

Come enjoy an unforgettable night of live classical music under the lights at one of Playa’s most elegant venues. OperaMaya's “Brighter Days” tour brings a Gala performance of Mexican and international opera favorites to Teatro de la Ciudad in Playa del Carmen on Thursday, June 26 at 8 PM.

Now in its 15th year, OperaMaya believes in taking opera beyond traditional stages—bringing the art form to plazas, churches, and theaters across the Riviera Maya. Grand Runway Show at Playa Art & Fashion Fest

This high-profile event, spearheaded by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, aims to shine a spotlight on Mexican fashion excellence, boost Playa’s status as a luxury destination, and elevate critical social messaging around gender-based violence support programs.

Under the glow of evening lights and live beats, Miss World Vanessa Ponce de León will introduce eight of Mexico’s top fashion houses—including the elegant prints of Pineda Covalín and the bold, playful designs of Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. Over 30 international models and beauty queens will grace the stage, styled to perfection by renowned creative director Tony Berber, whose “México en la piel” initiative seeks to capture and share the country’s cultural richness through fashion and travel.

Night FootGolf Tournament at Puerto Aventuras

Looking for something totally different (and seriously fun)? Join the Liga de FootGolf Cancún on Friday, June 28 at 7:30 PM for a night FootGolf tournament at the Puerto Aventuras Golf & Racquet Club. Whether you're a seasoned player or just in it for the laughs, this event is all about good vibes, friendly competition, and guaranteed fun.

Never heard of FootGolf? It’s exactly what it sounds like—a cross between golf and soccer. You play on a golf course, but instead of clubs and tiny balls, you kick a soccer ball into oversized holes in as few shots as possible. It’s easy to learn, addictive to play, and way more fun than you’d expect.

Tournament fees are 400 MXN for members and 500 MXN for non-members. Space is limited, and the registration deadline is today, June 26, so don’t wait!

Saturday Charm School with Playa Animal Rescue

Want to make a difference in a dog’s life before your second cup of coffee? Join Playa Animal Rescue’s Saturday Charm School, where volunteers help socialize and leash-train rescue pups so they’re ready for forever homes.

Every Saturday morning, volunteers are picked up at Don PP (on the east side of the highway between Calle 14 Nte and 14 Bis) at 8:30 AM sharp. From there, you’ll head to the shelter for about two hours of tail wags, leash walks, and heartwarming moments. No experience needed—just comfy shoes, a little patience, and a love for dogs.

It’s one of the most rewarding ways to spend your Saturday morning—and these pups will thank you with every wag. Just look at those sweet faces!

“Stuck in Translation” Comedy Night in Mérida

If you happen to be in Merida on Thursday, July 3, head to H Bar at Hennessy’s for Stuck in Translation, a night of stand-up and music to benefit Yucatán Giving Outreach A.C., a registered nonprofit, founded and led by my friend Kimmy Suki, dedicated to supporting shelters, orphanages, and soup kitchens across the region.

Expect a stellar lineup of four comedians—including my friend Collette— plus a hilarious host, all delivering their stand up in English. Come early and catch a pre-show DJ spinning soulful and global beats, and settle in with a pint and something tasty from Hennessy’s kitchen, open from 7:00 PM.

The laughs kick off at 8:00 PM, but seating is limited and this spot fills up fast—reservations are highly recommended. Entry is just 200 pesos, and every peso goes directly to YGO’s life-changing programs.

This is more than just a comedy show—it’s a feel-good night out that really does good.
